Playdoh Assignment

Abstract

This assignment served as a way to practice writing a proper methods. For this assignment I described the process behind my playdoh creation.

Process Playdoh Description

For this process, a large container of playdoh and a mechanical lead pencil were used. The playdoh was removed from the canister and cut in half, one half was set aside. The first half of the playdoh was pressed against a flat surface until the playdoh became flat as well. The flat playdoh was shaped into a large flat circle. A mechanical pencil tip was then used to cut through approximately one centimeter around the circle’s diameter. A circle and a long strip of playdoh were the subsequent products. The strip was then cut in half and rolled against the table to form two cylinders. Each cylinder was then cut approximately one-quarter of its preexisting length. The separated one-quarter of cylinder playdoh was reattached to the longer, original, cylinder at an angle and towards the middle of the cylinder. A tip of each cylinder was then bent to form something resembling two branches. The branches were then reattached to the circle so that they were protruding from opposite ends of the circle, then flattened to match the flatness of the circle. The other half of the playdoh, originally set to the side, was rolled on a flat surface to create one long cylinder and placed so that one end was barely overlapping the circle. This cylinder was then pinched together every thumb length until there was no more space. The cylinder was pinched in such a way that the divisions were clear while still maintaining the integrity of a singular cylinder. Next, the cylinder was carefully flattened, with the same thumb used to measure the lengths, and separate oval shapes were formed, while attached to the circle. Finally, the tip of a mechanical pencil was used to create a smaller circle within the large circle. The final product was a neuron.
